This is our 40th wedding anniversary.  On the one hand, that's pretty cool, on the other, part of me wonders how is that possible?  Not how is it possible that we're still together, but how can it have been so long? I don't feel that old.

We had a garden reception at my Great-Aunt Elizabeth's place, the house where my grandfather grew up and where we lived upstairs for our first two years.  (The first picture, I trust, makes it obvious where the wedding ceremony was.)

My Grandmother Jeppson came from California, and my Bennett grandparents were there too.  Bill's Grandpa Condie and his second wife Cecile were there, but I don't have a picture of them in this short stack;  the main group of pictures is in a box too buried for me to get today.

The scanner doesn't like the surface of the old photos, sorry about the distortion lines.  Last of all, here are the two of us with our parents.  We didn't put them in the receiving line, and we didn't make our dads wear tuxedos, a decision that made them both happy.  They were free to mingle after we were done with pictures.

The receiving line was simple, just us, the best man, and three bridesmaids.  My sister Carolyn is the one in the middle, the other two--Kristi and Pat-- were roommates.  John Jalosinski is best man.

In other pictures, all our younger brothers and sisters look so young.  It's funny to see them smiling with each other in an unfamiliar but happy place, and getting acquainted.  It's been a long time since they were kids.

Speaking of kids, we produced a few of those ourselves in the years that followed, but those will have to wait for another day.  Those wonderful kids of ours gifted us with theater tickets and a night's stay in Seattle to celebrate, and we're ready to take off now.  Bye!

  1. I hope you had a great time. And...why have I NEVER seen any of your wedding photos before? The one where you are cutting the cake is my favorite.
